PREFATORY NOTE

History of Grammatical Theories in Kannada' forms the report of J.S. Kulli when he was a Senior Fellow of the International School of Dravidian Linguistics in the year 1980-81.

J.S. Kulli's premature death on 29th December 1982 had cast up on us the moral duty to publish the report early, The financial shortage and the slow sales of the publications were the reasons which prevented us, even though, we wanted to bring-out the work much earlier.
